Vision latency questions.

How is the latency budget calculated?

Part travel time ≈ inspection distance ÷ line speed. We apply a usable fraction for capture, preprocessing and PLC handoff, then compare to typical model runtimes.

Why can plant GPU still be wrong for rejects?

Network hops and shared queues add jitter. Reject/divert decisions that must hit takt time should stay on an edge AI PC next to the camera and PLC I/O.

What if the budget is negative?

You need more distance, a local speed change, simpler models, better optics/lighting, parallel hosts — or a process redesign. Hardware alone may not fix physics.

Does this include PLC scan time?

Only as part of the usable-fraction assumption. Always validate with your real PLC cycle, reject actuator and camera trigger timing.

Can SAS supply specialized vision cameras and optics?

Yes — on request. We specify and integrate line-scan, area-scan, 3D/stereo, telecentric optics, strobe/IR lighting and trigger/reject hardware for food, packaging and PCB/AOI cells. Techniques and equipment lists are quoted after a short assessment.
